On Oct. 21, 2024, lawyer Federica Liparoti will be a speaker at the webinar “THE SECURITY D.D.L.: changes in criminal law and trials.” The “SAFETY DECREE LAW” contains provisions on public safety, protection of in-service personnel, and the prison system. The text composed of thirty-eight articles introduces a plurality of new crimes, including that of arbitrary occupation of property and rioting inside a penitentiary institution. This bill is closely related to Decree-Law No. 92 of May 23, 2008, on urgent measures on public security (Senate Act No. 692), which the government decided to enact in order to meet the demand for security made by citizens, the contents of which address with immediacy the issue of widespread lawlessness, urban security, including that arising from road traffic, and the fight against organized crime.
