Fake prescriptions to get the “zombie drug”: arrested
Nas raids the home of a 30-year-old man from Caronno Pertusella: he had 160 oxycodone tablets
Carabinieri from the anti-substitution nucleus had evidently been watching him for a while, otherwise they would not have visited him convinced to take him to jail. The boy at home, in Caronno Pertusella, had a supply of painkillers unexplained except by black market oxycodone. As many as 160 tablets hidden just about everywhere, including in his mother's drawer, and then seized. This is an extremely potent opioid, even more so than morphine, which induces tolerance and addiction and caused about 100 thousand overdose deaths in the United States between 2020 and 2021.
FAKE PRESCRIPTION PAD
The young man, who was arrested in agreement with prosecutor Francesca Parola, used false medical prescriptions to obtain them; in his home, carabinieri found a red prescription pad that was false but identical to official ones. Defended by lawyer Federica Liparoti the suspect was questioned yesterday morning by gip Stefano Colombo and gave his version of the facts. First, he himself would use oxycodone recreationally, so he would not be running an illegal trade in the painkiller. However, he would apparently have had contacts with sites dedicated to addicts, it is unclear whether in the role of buyer or pusher. The underlying investigation appears to be much broader, however, and would start with investigators in Milan.
THE HYPOTHESIS
It is hypothesized that there was a real traffic in opioids, made possible by the falsification of therapeutic prescriptions and the complicity of some doctors. Somewhat like the one that had Sicily as its epicenter, dismantled in May 2021 by the Catania Dda. The organization resold the drugs in the U.S., where in recent years the spread of the substance has been severely restricted. The Nas apparently traced the Caronnese as part of investigations ordered to combat the abuse of painkillers related to heroin. Such as fentanyl, the “zombie drug,” which has become a scourge.
