Gender-based violence: Roccella Reform and news on Red Code
On January 15, 2024, attorney-at-law Federica Liparoti was a speaker at the webinar "Gender Violence: Roccella Reform and News on Red Code". In the webinar, Dr. Luca Bonzanni, journalist, PhD and expert in data - journalism on crime and justice, delved into the empirical dimension of gender-based violence. Federica Liparoti, a criminal defense lawyer at the Milan Bar and a PhD in Criminal Law, explained the changes made to the "Red Code" by Law No. 168 of Nov. 24, 2023, so-called Roccella Reform, effective Dec. 9, 2023. The legislation, bearing: "Provisions to combat violence against women and domestic violence," aims to strengthen what the Code Red provides, namely to protect victims of violence and prevent it through interventions on the precautionary phase and through the simplification and improvement of some already existing institutions: the police commissioner's warning, the electronic bracelet, deferred flagrante delicto arrest, and the minimum distance of approach.
